ALAN MCDOUGALL

Dr Alan McDougall is currently Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs, Asia Oceania. Alan qualified in medicine in 1984 from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He trained as a family doctor and worked in and around Glasgow for 14 years. Alan joined Novo Nordisk in 1998, becoming their UK Medical Director in 2001 and after leadership positions with both BioMarin Europe and AstraZeneca, he joined Astellas as their UK Medical Director in 2009 before moving to a regional European role in 2014 and subsequently Vice President and Head of Asia-Pacific Medical Affairs in 2016.

Ajay Tiku

Dr Ajay Tiku completed his MBChB training in Zambia and M.Med Internal Medicine in South Africa. An executive management-training program from Vanderbilt University, USA, and an Executive Leadership Program from IMD University, Switzerland has added to his exceptional leadership style. Following eight years of clinical practice in Africa, Dr Tiku went on to gain vast experience in the field of medical affairs, and scientific research & development. He has worked for just about two decades, with Global research based pharmaceutical organizations. Dr Tiku has published in the area of Diabetes and has been a guest speaker at healthcare related meetings in various countries. He has gained work experience within the USA, Africa and Asia at various roles and senior positions of responsibility. He is currently living and working in a leadership role within the Pharmaceutical industry, based in Singapore, along with his wife and two children.

Troels Wolther

Troels is an Australian and Danish citizen, with a Medical Degree and PhD from Aarhus University, Denmark, with a past special academic interest in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Hepatology, but with 21 years of broad industry experience across therapeutic areas.

Troels has a proven track record in developing and managing high-performing teams, external relationship creation and management, and identifying and developing the synergies between patient and business outcomes, all to the overall benefit of both patients, physicians and healthcare systems. He possesses superior both technical medical/scientific, organizational and people management skills and has worked in both Local, Regional and Global roles and functions within industry. Similarly, he has worked across a broad spectrum of country archetypes, including working across the Asia Pacific, China, India & Japan geographies, Europe and the US, propelling organizations into excellence by means of a crisp focus on driving patient outcomes, scientific excellence, digitalization and a strong emphasis on people & culture.

He currently is the Executive Medical Director for Amgen Australia.

Leah Williams

As the CSL Behring Director of Medical Education and Communications, Leah supports the global team within the Hematology Therapeutic Area. She has over 16 years’ experience in global medical communications and education from both the biotechnology and agency sides. This experience spans a broad range of therapy areas, including oncology, immunology, hematology and others with a significant focus in rare diseases. She has partnered with Medical Affairs and Commercial teams within the pharmaceutical industry to create and execute comprehensive medical communication strategies and educational programming throughout all phases of the product life cycle. Currently, Leah is responsible for providing global guidance in the creation of comprehensive medical education and communication strategies and initiatives for several products.  Leah is a graduate of Moravian College and earned an MS in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the CSL Behring, she worked in various positions focusing on medical and scientific strategy at the Envision Pharma Group, Biocentric, Inc. and Synergy Medical Education.

PETER RUTHERFORD

Peter Rutherford is Global Medical Lead for Renal Rare Disease at Vifor Pharma in Zurich, CH. He qualified in Medicine at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK and completed postgraduate medical training to obtain MRCP in 1989. He entered an academic training pathway in Nephrology with an MRC Training Fellowship allowing him to complete a PhD in cell physiology as well as completing clinical training in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. He was then an MRC Travelling Fellow at Yale University School of Medicine gaining additional academic experience in molecular biology.
After return to the UK as Lecturer in Medicine at the Unversity of Newcastle, he was appointed as Senior Lecturer in Nephrology at the University of Wales College of Medicine and Consultant Nephrologist. In this role, he combined clinical practice in delivering a full range of nephrology services with academic work. Peter then developed expertise as a clinical leader in the hospital and became the Medical Director of a combined acute, community and mental health NHS organization leading on patient safety, clinical effectiveness, service improvement and research. In addition he was a Clinical advisor at NICE and chaired their Guidelines Review Panel until he joined Pharma in 2007.
From 2007 to 2015 he was Medical Director Renal for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Baxter Healthcare – being responsible for all aspects of Medical Affairs activities across the region. He worked on research projects in patient support, decision making and education as well as new product development for home dialysis. From 2015 to 2017 he was Head of Integrated Market Access at Quintiles in Europe and Emerging Markets – supporting small and large Pharma and emerging biotech companies with medical affairs, medical communications, market access and patient centric services. Focused on launch brands, Peter support a range of companies across a range of therapeutic areas. Since joining Vifor Pharma, he is back on home ground in Nephrology but working in systemic diseases affecting every organ system.

OGÜN SAZOVA

Dr. Ogün Sazova has graduated Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and has a specialization degree for family medicine. After spending 5 years in clinical and research setting in Turkey and Germany, he joined pharmaceutical industry in 2003 and worked in local medical and commercial roles before joining AstraZeneca (AZ) Turkey as the Head of Primary Care Medical Affairs. In this role, Ogün has built the MSL function in AZ Turkey amongst other medical affairs deliverables.
In 2009, Ogün moved to EU regional organization in Brussels and was the EU Medical Affairs Director for Cardiovascular Diseases for AZ. In 2012, he was appointed as the Global Nominated Signatory Practice Director in Global Medical Excellence group, and moved to London with his family. In this role, Ogün has set standards for Nominated Signatory operations worldwide, including risk & control framework, training, accreditation, and many examples of simplification. After this role, Ogün has taken over the lead of the Global Medical Academy and established it as a centre of excellence in AZ to drive world-class scientific engagements by medical teams in the countries. In his final role with AZ, Ogün worked in Rheumatology & Inflammation therapy area and moved to Napp Pharmaceuticals in January 2020, where he is currently working as the Country Medical Director for the UK & Ireland.
