Peter Piliero is currently the Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs Americas at GSK Consumer Healthcare. In this role he leads medical and scientific professionals working across various consumer categories to enable innovative solutions for consumers. He is responsible for the US, Canada, and LATAM.
Dr. Piliero is recognized as a Medical Affairs expert having held various leadership positions over the last 16 years at Merck, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mallinckrodt. In his 12 years at Boehringer Ingelheim, he led various therapeutic areas in Clinical Development & Medical Affairs including Consumer Health Care, Virology, Immunology, CNS, Metabolism, and Women’s Health. At Merck, Pete led all of US Medical Affairs (except Oncology) and Global Medical Information. And at Mallinckrodt, Pete was responsible for the global Medical strategy for the Critical Care therapeutic areas, for the overall strategic planning, governance and management of the global Field Medical organization, and for global Scientific Affairs.
Since 2017, Pete has been a very active member of the Medical Affairs Professional Society and currently is on the Board of Directors and leads the Strategy and Launch Excellence Focus Area Working Group. Prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry, Pete practiced for 11 years as an Infectious Disease specialist providing patient care and conducting clinical research at Albany Medical College.
Tamas Koncz, MD, MSc, Ph.D., is Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Inflammation and Immunology (I&I) Business at Pfizer. As CMO, Tamas leads the medical affairs organization, medical professionals across the world who are responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of Pfizer I&I medicines, as well as continuous data generation and dissemination to advance the understanding of the medicines’ benefit: risk profiles. Medical affair colleagues are also involved in projects supporting research and early and late phase development, regulatory affairs, reimbursement and lifecycle management of the medicines. Throughout his career, Tamas has held various roles as a VP Global TA Lead, Global and European Medical Director, UK country medical adviser, health economist working with a broad portfolio and medical devices. Tamas holds an MD from the University of Debrecen, Hungary. Additionally, he completed an MSc in Economics at the Corvinus University, Budapest, an MSc in Health Economics at the University of York, UK and an MSc in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of Surrey, UK. Tamas also holds a Ph.D. from Semmelweis University, Hungary.
