Matt is an experienced Senior Medical Manager with a long history of working in the pharmaceuticals industry and clinical roles. Skilled in Pharmaceutical Medicine, Oncology and Haematology . Matt is a strong professional with a MMedSc focused in Pharmaceutical Medicine from UNSW Australia. Matt now lectures in Pharmaceutical Medicine at UNSW.
One of Matt’s main ambitions is the development of the Medical Affairs Profession and the ethical and effective implementation of the MSL role. Matt is the Secretary of the Australian Medical and Scientific Professional Association (APPA) which is the representative association for Medical Affairs in Australia and is dedicated to promoting excellence in pharmaceutical medicine through professional development, networking and advocacy. APPA is an association of medical directors, medical advisors and medical scientific liaisons working within medical affairs departments of Australian pharmaceutical companies. Matt is also currently working towards a Doctorate of Public Health which focuses on the role of Medical Affairs (focus on the MSL) in the Quality use of Medicine (QUM) and its impact on patient outcomes.
Lynda Finis is the Sr. Director, Medical Governance & Information at Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) where she is accountable for strategy and oversight for Medical Affairs Governance, Operations and Medical Information. Lynda is an experienced global Medical Affairs leader whose achievements include developing and leading Medical Information and Operational Excellence to deliver best in class medical capabilities. Prior to joining BD, Lynda worked at AstraZeneca for 22 years bridging strategy and execution across multiple therapeutic areas and leading teams through transformation and delivery of new operating models.
Dr. Scott Flanders is currently the Vice President of Medical Affairs Strategy at ImmunityBio, Inc, – a vertically integrated biotechnology company developing next-generation therapies and vaccines that bolster the natural immune system to defeat cancers and infectious diseases. The Company’s range of immunotherapy and cell therapy platforms, alone and together, act to drive and sustain an immune response with the goal of creating durable and safe protection against disease. Scott has been a pathfinder in the life sciences industry and Medical Affairs organizations for over 28 years. Before joining ImmunityBio in 2024, Dr. Flanders held senior leadership and management positions with some of the world’s leading biopharmaceutical companies, including Sumitomo Pharma America, Myovant Sciences, Dendreon Pharmaceuticals, Astellas Pharma, Takeda Pharmaceuticals America, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, and TAP Pharmaceuticals. Scott leadership roles within Medical Affairs, have included Medical Affairs Strategy, Medical Communications and Operations, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), External Affairs, and Field Based Outcomes Research. His professional expertise includes development of real-world research, disease, and product registries, Pharmacoeconomics, medical communications through innovative digital strategy, and scientific publications. Scott was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Finance) and a Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University, in San Antonio, TX. After working as a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Illinois, he received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Health Services Research (Economics) from Saint Louis University, St. Louis, MO. He also proudly served in the US Army Reserves for 9 years, retiring as a Captain. Scott is the father of two boys and is now glad to be an “empty nester” living with his wife and two dogs in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada. In his free time, Scott enjoys attending live music venues, collecting legendary Blues artists on vinyl, and playing a round of golf.
Ann has almost 20 years of experience in Medical Affairs and HEOR with a focus in neurology and psychiatry. She joined Lundbeck in 2014 and is currently the Vice President & Deputy Head Global Value Evidence, leading the development and execution of a strategic approach to evidence generation for the full portfolio of products.
Ann has extensive experience as a member of both Medical Affairs and HEOR field teams. Her experience convinced her of the deep need to develop impactful and rigorous evidence (real world and randomized) to support engagement with external experts of all types to ensure that patients receive the best treatment possible.
Ann holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience. Prior to joining industry, her research focused on studies of depression and attentional mechanisms utilizing dense sensor array EEG. She is married, with two kids in college, and is happiest when exploring the less-traveled backroads of the world.
