Evelyn R. Hermes-DeSantis, PharmD, BCPS, is the Director for Research and Publications for phactMI and Professor Emerita at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. She is dedicated to advancing and elevating the practice of medical information.
phactMI is a non-profit association representing medical information leadership of 30+ pharma companies. phactMI is an industry-wide consortium that focuses on increasing the awareness, credibility, and access to medical information. At phactMI, Evelyn has overseen and conducted numerous projects that have resulted in presentations and publications; precepted and mentored fellows; and has provided continuing education programs focused in medical information.
Prior to joining phactMI, Evelyn was a Clinical Professor at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and Director of Drug Information Services at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. In her role she was dedicated to training student pharmacists, residents, and fellows in medical information skills including medical literature evaluation and application. Her research focused in the area of provision of drug information services within in institutions, the relationship between hospital and industrial pharmacy practice, and education of pharmacists. She also has expertise in research study procedure design. She worked with the Rutgers Industry Pharmacy Fellowship program and mentored numerous fellows on their research project over the years.
Evelyn received both a bachelor’s degree (BS) in Pharmacy and a doctorate in pharmacy (PharmD) from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She then completed a Drug Information specialty residency at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond, Virginia prior to working at the University of Utah Hospital Drug Information Service for a few years.–
Professor Victoria Elegant is based in Hong Kong for Amgen and is Vice-President, JAPAC Regional Medical Head, and Site Head, China Research Site, Shangha. Prior to Amgen, Professor Elegant was the Vice-President, Regulatory and Medical Affairs, APAC, based in Shanghai for 10 years for Baxter, and Vice President, Medical Affairs, Asia for Baxalta.
Professor Elegant is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine UK (FPM), member of the FPM International Committee, and is an Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Medicine and member of the Board of Studies for the Masters in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
She has published and spoken extensively on regulatory affairs, medical affairs and clinical development in the Asia Pacific region and is President of the Asia Pacific chapter of the Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS). She is on the biotech advisory board to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Professor Elegant holds a medical degree from the University of London, and is passionate about improving standards of care and outcomes for patients in Asia. She is also involved in initiatives to support women in leadership.
Ivan Desviat, MBA, CHCP is Director Medical Education Excellence for AbbVie biotech overseeing company led Medical Education strategic planning, implementation approach, and program impact measures for Medical Affairs across all company’s Therapeutic Areas at Global HQ and affiliates. He brings more than 20 years of documented success across a variety of Affiliate, EU Regional, US and Global assignments in Medical Affairs organization, Commercial teams and Continuous Performance roles.
Ivan is recognized for enhancing Medical Affairs internal capabilities such as scientific platforms, KOL engagement, insights, internal training and delivering educational engagement strategies with innovative programs in different local, regional, and global roles.
He has author several congresses oral, and posters related to medical education research and was granted in 2017 the prestigious GAME Medical Education international award for a PI program in collaboration with the health agency in Spain.
He recently accepted the role of Co-Chair of the MAPS External Education Focus Area Working Group. In this effort he will be working to enhance the value of Medical Affairs education within the industry while providing visibility to new approaches and solutions recently created in response to the changing landscape.
Ivan received the bachelor’s degree in industrial chemistry (M.Sc.) from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (Spain), and was recipient of an Erasmus study grant to complete the Chemical Engineering degree (ChE) from the Ecole européenne de Chimie, Polymères et Materieu at Strasburg (France). He completed his MBA at Instituto de Empresa (IE), and holds a six sigma black belt and CHCP certification.
