Medical Affairs is uniquely positioned to generate insights from external stakeholders including clinical experts, scientific leaders, opinion leaders, and increasingly, patient communities to drive strategy and thus value across the organization.

Yet, for many organizations, the generation, analysis, and communication of strategic insights creates bottlenecks. We find ourselves in a frustrating paradox: we have more data than ever, yet we struggle to find and communicate the patterns and strategic value within it. This paper uses a panel of Insights experts along with industry-wide surveys to address these challenges, finding that many of the pain points in current Insights processes stem from the attempt to overlay cutting-edge AI onto a legacy insights process built for human speed analysis. In short, many teams that continue to use CRMs to collect Insights data are finding that off-the-shelf LLMs struggle to deliver seismic strategic enlightenment.

This paper unpacks the current challenge of AI integration into legacy Insights processes, detailing current best practices that allow Medical Affairs teams to stop “doing insights” and start driving strategy.
