Ivan Desviat, MBA, CHCP is Director Medical Education Excellence for AbbVie biotech overseeing company led Medical Education strategic planning, implementation approach, and program impact measures for Medical Affairs across all company’s Therapeutic Areas at Global HQ and affiliates. He brings more than 20 years of documented success across a variety of Affiliate, EU Regional, US and Global assignments in Medical Affairs organization, Commercial teams and Continuous Performance roles.
Ivan is recognized for enhancing Medical Affairs internal capabilities such as scientific platforms, KOL engagement, insights, internal training and delivering educational engagement strategies with innovative programs in different local, regional, and global roles.
He has author several congresses oral, and posters related to medical education research and was granted in 2017 the prestigious GAME Medical Education international award for a PI program in collaboration with the health agency in Spain.
He recently accepted the role of Co-Chair of the MAPS External Education Focus Area Working Group. In this effort he will be working to enhance the value of Medical Affairs education within the industry while providing visibility to new approaches and solutions recently created in response to the changing landscape.
Ivan received the bachelor’s degree in industrial chemistry (M.Sc.) from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (Spain), and was recipient of an Erasmus study grant to complete the Chemical Engineering degree (ChE) from the Ecole européenne de Chimie, Polymères et Materieu at Strasburg (France). He completed his MBA at Instituto de Empresa (IE), and holds a six sigma black belt and CHCP certification.
Jacqueline Waldrop is the Oncology lead for the Global Medical Grants team at Pfizer Inc. Her responsibilities include Investigator Sponsored Research, Quality Improvement and Continuing Medical Education (CME) grants. She is responsible for developing and implementing grant-making strategies in collaboration with Pfizer colleagues as well as with external stakeholder organizations. The grants program aims to improve patient care through advances in independent research, medical education, and health care quality improvement initiatives.
Prior to joining Pfizer in 2006 Jacqueline worked as the Director of Continuing Professional Education for the American Heart Association managing the accredited program for physicians, nurses, pharmacists and emergency services. Her accomplishments at the AHA included expansion of guidelines-based education and implementation of an association-wide learning management system for healthcare professionals.
Jacqueline has a BA in Chemistry from Austin College in Sherman, TX. She has a MS in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs and Certificate in Clinical Trial Management from Temple University School of Pharmacy in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Ashish “Ash” Dugar is a business leader with experience in clinical development & medical affairs, market access & health economics, commercial & business development, and new product assessment. He has a deep understanding of the global healthcare environment, market trends, and drug development.
Ash is the Vice-President, Global Medical Affairs at Sarepta Therapeutics, a company leading the field in precision genetic medicine with one of the world’s largest RNA and Gene Therapy pipelines. Prior to his role at Sarepta, Ash was VP, Commercial Development at Intracellular Therapies where he was responsible for developing commercial and market access strategies. And before that role, he was the Global Head, Clinical Development Science & Innovation at Roche. Additionally, Ash was VP, Biosimilars for Cardinal Health (CAH) Specialty Solutions. And before joining CAH, Ash was Pfizer’s Vice-President, Global Head, Medicines Development Group for Biosimilars, where his team advanced Oncology and Autoimmune agents in the clinic.
Ghazaleh EA is the inaugural leader of Future Leaders – Canada of the Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS). Through this unique role, Ghazaleh aspires to create a bridge between those students in academic programs, as well as early careerists, that aspire to enter the Pharmaceutical and MedTech industries and connect them to experienced industry leaders across Canada and globally.
Ghazaleh has already contributed medical and scientific expertise to industry professionals through her first medical affairs role as an intern consultant at COMPASS Medical Affairs Consulting, and then as an Oncology Medical Affairs intern at Bayer. Ghazaleh continues to be actively involved in clinical pharmacy practice and serves as a research committee member on the Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology (CAPhO). Ghazaleh has received a BSc. from the University of British Columbia and is graduating with the PharmD. from the University of Toronto. Through her academic journey, she has empowered her peers by being a mentor, tutor and teaching assistant to help them achieve academic and career success.
In this new leadership role, Ghazaleh is looking forward to working with MAPS Canada Chapter Co-Leads and the rest of MAPS executive team to engage, empower and educate the new generation of Medical Affairs professionals.
Dr. Younes joined CSL Behring in April 2022 as Head of Medical Affairs Middle East & Africa with 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in Europe and Middle East.
Prior to joining CSL Behring, he held the position of GCC Cluster Medical Lead for Kyowa Kirin Pharma where he successfully established the medical organization and strategy for the region.
Previously, Dr. Younes held various positions within Novartis, Roche Pharma and Gilead Sciences in France and then in Middle East where he was providing medical support, developing Phase 3/4 clinical trials and initiating national awareness and educational programs. A native of Tunisia, Dr. Younes received his medical degree from the University of Tunis, Tunisia. He went on to receive his Oncology Specialized Certification from The University of Paris VI France. A long with the industry journey, Dr Younes completed medical specialized courses from the university of Paris V (Geriatrics & HIV management) and from Harvard Medical School (Immunology & Genetics).
