An essential strategic role for MA in product launch planning is the development and tracking of medical imperatives. Critical to product launch preparation, medical imperatives may include required foundational knowledge, unmet needs, own-able stakes and value related to the product and its TA for activities with experts/HCPs, payers and policymakers to improve patient outcomes. They act as strategic guidance for planning and execution of MA activities, from insight gathering to evidence generation and dissemination, often involving extensive external expert engagement. As medical imperatives form the strategic backbone for product planning, measurement of scientific impact is critical to assess launch readiness and for insight gathering to potentially refine and optimize launch preparation.
