The strategic mission and objectives of the Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS) Medical Communications Focus Area Working Group are to create a community that advances our role as fully integrated strategic business partners to promote the growth of Medical Affairs Professionals within the Medical Communications sector worldwide; to develop our Medical Communications community within MAPS to become the premier global destination of choice for Medical Communications MA Professionals; and to catalyze our individual personal leadership development and professional career advancement.
We will organize Medical Communications workshops for MAPS meetings in the North America, APAC (Asia Pacific – China/Japan), and EMEA (Europe, Middle-East, Asia) regions. We develop original content for webinars, podcasts, eLearning courses and white papers. In addition, the working group will periodically contribute cogent and timely content on the Medical Communications sector for the MAPS publication, Elevate magazine. Most importantly, we will provide a supportive resource for all Medical Communications Medical Affairs Professionals.
#1 Elevate and establish the Medical Communications Function as a Strategic Partner in Medical Affairs:
- Educate on how to develop and communicate the value of an Integrated Medical Communications Strategy and an audience-focused Medical Communications Plan; identify best practices and challenges for the development of both deliverables
- Enhance understanding of the development and execution of Publications Strategy across all stages of an asset’s lifecycle; explain why and how to add value to publications with audience amplification, visual & interactive data presentations, and publication search optimization
- Advance understanding of digital strategies and tools that can enhance Medical Communications-led audience engagement and education
#2 Transform cross-functional collaboration between Medical Communications team and other Medical Affairs teams:
- Identify best practices for effective collaboration between Medical Communications and Medical Strategy teams
- Define ways to further strengthen the collaboration between Medical Communications, Insights and Field Medical Affairs teams
